The Refreshing

The heavens gather the droplets of water from the sea in streams of glittering light and harbors them in the clouds until such time as is decreed by natures order, then as an act of compassion offers the droplets again to the earth, to the sea, in life sustaining rain. Does the sea, being in turmoil, slinging it’s crest of water high into the air prevent the heavens from collecting it’s due? Does the sea being calm prevent the heavens from gathering the droplets? Nay, for it is written in the laws of nature, the rain shall fall.
Looking from His throne to the sea of humanity, whether calm or in a storm of circumstances, God in His most magnificent and glorious design, draws from that sea his children to rest, rejoice and be restored in His presence. To talk to Him, to hear His voice, to be guided by His most tender and Devine Holy Spirit, to walk the clouds in rapture, basking in His love to be once again released to the world in which they live. The wonders of knowledge they have received from Him to be shared by those you meet day by day.
Does your circumstance dictate the blessings? Nay, for every good and perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variance neither shadow of turning. James 1:17
Let your light so shine…

Prayer

My Prayer
Just below the waterfall where the rippling stream becomes content to lazily flow downward, I met my God….on the stone bench among the tiny wild flowers I sat and communed with Him…He being the the blessed sacrificed and risen Savior Jesus the Christ. While the gentle wind rustles the leaves on the trees trailing up the mountainside in harmonious chimes, I gave to Him my memories of pain, regret, resentment, anguish, anger, remorse and hatred…I surrendered to Him my past with its failures and He, as only He can do, reminded me also of the good times, the right decisions, the effort exerted to please Him…I came to Him with a load of regrets…He took them and allowed them to flow into the stream of water. They quickly disappeared toward the deep sea never to be seen again…
Now as a trusting friend I will walk with you God, in new faith and resolve. Not fearing! Trusting You to guide me to the top of the mountain, step by step. Each moment drawing me closer to you…and your Divine purpose…let this be my prayer….In Jesus’ Holy Name!!!!!

Happy 4th of July

Freedom stood with all relief
To assuage the pain and soothe the grief
And men live no bars to hold
In liberty’s light of burnished gold

A silver sword against all doubt
Tho’ weaker men scream and shout
Their voices never set the tone
Freedom is not from hope alone

Freedom’s cost, the field of dreams
Is not as pretty as it seems
On a cross a Savior dies
On the ground a warrior lies

In my heart a purer thought
The cost they paid, not for naught
This I can say to God and man
God bless America, Freedom’s Land!

God Is

I have been rather remiss in my commitment to share my thoughts, etc on my blog. I have an excellent excuse.

I am on vacation in the beautiful state of Alaska with my wonderful family.

The house is full of vibrant grandchildren who have the ability to keep you absorbed in their activity, also I am enjoying the pleasant company of Rob, Leslie and Chandi as well as many visitors.

I will share this thought with you.

Where Shall I Find God?

A question which has been posed since the day Adam sinned and in his fearful recognition of his error he said, “Who is God, and where can I find Him?” His sin blurred the clarity of sight he had possessed just one day before.

God Is!

In fact, that encompasses every answer to every query!

I perceive that answer will not satisfy some, yet it is that simple.

God is the azure sky, the cumulus clouds, the purplish glow in the golden rays of the setting sun. He is the ebony nighttime sky pierced through with a trillion points of silver light.

God is the ocean depth, the vibrant hues of the coral beds, the tangled garlands of seaweed feeding the thousand and more species of sea life.He is the molten rock formations, the base of the mountain rushing to become an island once it reaches the water’s surface.

He is the highest mountain peak, the lowest meadow trail. He is the wild flowers dancing in the freedom of a summer breeze. He is the heart of the forest sheltering the woodland creatures and laying them down to rest upon her velvet mossy floor.

God is the air you breath, the sights you see,the sounds you hear, the beating of your heart, the rhythm of your lungs, the song you sing, the dance you dance, the walk you walk, the talk you talk.

God is the tree of life and upon it’s laden branches the fruit os His spirit. Love, peace, joy, long-suffering, goodness, gentleness, faith, meekness, and temperance.

And if you partake of this fruit, if you portray the attributes of this fruit in your life, the world will see God in you.

That is how you will know there is a God and that is where you will find him.

Footprints

I’ve watched the teasing winds of life.
Caress the swaying leaves:
A sweet and tender melody,
Gently playing in the trees.

As time, a marching soldier,
In steady rhythm treads,
His drumbeat trilling softly:
Notes of passing moments spread.

Marking day by day our progress,
As we go along our way;
Taking measures of our footprints
What we do, what we say.

Now as one short day has ended,
Have we left a smile or pain?
Did we leave a soft wind blowing
Or a storm of wind and rain?

The deeds that we are doing
Will be faced again you know.
In the lesson of the harvest:
That you reap just what you sow.

Words

Spread some feathers on the lawn,
And watch them fly away.
They can’t be gathered in again,
On the ground they will not stay.

The wind will catch and scatter,
They’ll wing their way on high.
Through the distant elements
Each tiny feather will fly.

Just as the foolish words you speak,
Are carried by the gust.
So then to think before we speak,
And guard our mouth we must.

Once you’ve said hurtful words,
They’re gone and can’t return.
Though we see the damage done,
It’s a lesson too late learned.

Starting this blog has required me to go thru pages and pages of poems, thoughts and prayers I have written. It can be intimidating, but I decided to share a selection Of the older poems. Written between 1965 and 2005.
It seems the tone of my writing changed somewhat, and became more prose than poetry. I write a lot and I hope to become more comfortable with sharing my thoughts.

This is a blessed time for me.I have the two girls here and they are an absolute pleasure. I miss the family members that are in Alaska and the lil girl in Alma.

God and family…my treasures….

Lost Days

What lies ahead in darkness there?
What goals and triumphs planned with care,
Reaching and taking dreams untried,
Then turning back unsatisfied.
Wretched man whose searching n’er ends
For something better,life never sends.
Always grasping tomorrow,ever so fast
To realize tomorrow now lies in the past.
For life has dealt you what it deals to all men
Who cast their hopes on a world bruised by sin.
One half reaching forward to temporal things,
One half reaching backward to unfulfilled dreams,
Eyes dim, heart slow, a victim in a snare.
To bring God this offering somehow isn’t fair,
Yet He will accept it, mercy praises be sung.
How much greater the blessing had you done it while young.

Self Esteem

I see you on your lofty perch,

Viewing with scorn the masses below;

Mocking, while they do have faith,

No great accomplishment can they show.

While you have steadily risen

And placed your name on the board

Enjoying eagerly all the fine things

This present world can afford.

Yet, you are sad, hollow and empty,

As needy as a begger can be.

With sadness they watch you exalt yourself,

And thru it all they can see.

They see a heart empty and cold,

Devoid of love’s warming touch;

Crippling along down life’s road

Dependent on a self centered crutch.

Pity what pity you’ve climbed so high,

No one can reach you my friend

A tall ladder to a high lonely place

That tempted you to ascend.

So high the air is thinned and chilled;

The song is stilled in your heart;

Come back down the ladder to warmth and friends,

It takes only one step to start.

Once you’ve started it’s easy you’ll find,

To reduce your ego to size.

Tho will shock you to know you reigned on your throne,

Nowhere but in your own eyes.

moments count

Yesterday ran away swiftly into that place we shall now refer to as the past. While she was with us, she laughed and played and in some cases shed a tear, yet nothing, no enticement, no coaching, no promise could hold her… she lingered until around midnight and just danced herself out of sight. Her voice carrying in the winds of the night trilled, “I’ll send to you my sister, she is called today. Enjoy her to the fullest , laugh with her, pray with her, plan with her, but do it with expediency, for I warn you, she will not linger long.” Always remember this simple thought, moments count.
